MEET YOUR THERAPIST

HI, I'M JENNIFER CHAPPLE.
Jennifer is a psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience since graduating from the University of Houston's College of Social Work in 2000. She emphasizes building a strong, collaborative therapeutic relationship with clients to explore and challenge difficult issues while maintaining trust. Jennifer's non-judgmental approach originated during her time as a family therapist at Depelchin Children's Center Home-Based therapy programs, where she addressed challenging issues in clients' homes. Jennifer's notable achievement is her training and certification in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Inspired by Dr. Marsha Linehan's teachings at the University of Houston, she established an evidence-based comprehensive DBT program at the Prism program in 2007. In 2008, Jennifer launched her own DBT program for adolescents and adults at her private practice, establishing herself as a respected DBT therapist in Houston. She has received training in Family Connections, a program from the National Education Alliance on Borderline Personality Disorder, and frequently provides talks and trainings on DBT in the community.

In January 2022, Jennifer embarked on her most significant endeavor by establishing The Awakening Center Houston, a wellness clinic offering DBT and other evidence-based therapies. The center also provides community and school programming to teach mindfulness and meditation practices. Jennifer developed her own mindfulness curriculum and offers mindfulness classes to enhance joy, resilience, and numerous other benefits. The Awakening Center opened its clinic in a charming historic Heights bungalow on Heights Boulevard in August. In March 2023, Jennifer began pursuing a teaching certificate in Mindfulness Meditation, with plans to graduate in 2025. She aims to introduce her curriculum, along with the Mindfulness Self-Compassion curriculum, to high schools this Spring, with a vision to expand mindfulness training to more schools in the future.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Jennifer takes pride in being a devoted mother to her two children, Aidan and Alaina, and cherishes quality time with her partner Jack. She is an avid nature enthusiast, indulging in hiking, birding, and nature photography. Additionally, Jennifer actively contributes to the Friends of Woodland Park organization, serving as a board member since 2021.
